1. Who is responsible?
BetMethod is provided by Emily’s Apps Ltd (“we”, “us” or “our”). We are the controller of personal information processed to operate BetMethod. You can contact us at hello@emilysapps.ltd.
This policy covers the BetMethod iOS app, its API and this privacy page. It does not cover Apple’s services, bookmakers or other websites you choose to visit. BetMethod supplies tips; it does not place bets or hold gambling funds.
2. Information we use
When you browse tips
Your device sends network requests to our server to load tips and screenshots. Our hosting infrastructure receives your IP address and request information, such as the time, requested address, response status and app or browser information supplied with the request. Hosting access and error logs may record this information to operate and protect the service.
The app does not ask for your name, email address, date of birth, location, contacts, bookmaker login or banking details. It does not send us a record of bets you place elsewhere. Published stakes and results describe our tips, not your personal activity.
Information on your device
Your confirmation that you are 18 or over is saved in the app’s local settings; it is not sent to our API. The app may cache public content for display. A short-lived Pro access token is held in memory to request paid content. Apple’s operating system may manage app data and backups according to your device settings.
When you buy or restore Pro
Apple processes payment through your Apple Account. Our app sends Apple-signed purchase information to our server, and our server checks subscription status with Apple. This includes transaction identifiers, the subscription product, purchase and expiry information, and renewal, refund or revocation status. Apple’s signed purchase information may also contain storefront, currency and price details.
The app supplies a randomly generated purchase identifier to Apple to accompany the transaction. It is not a BetMethod account, advertising identifier or your email address. We use purchase information to verify and restore access, not to build a betting profile. We do not receive your card details or Apple Account password.
Optional notifications
If you choose new-tip notifications and allow them in iPhone Settings, we store an Apple push token, a random installation identifier, a protected registration credential and your notification preferences. For Pro notifications, we also store the original subscription transaction identifier and its Apple environment so we can check current membership before sending. We do not store a full purchase receipt for notifications.
Apple delivers these alerts through its Push Notification service. Notification text contains no selections, stakes or odds. Discreet notifications use neutral wording, but iOS still shows the BetMethod name and icon. An alert already sent may retain its previous wording. You can change these choices in More or stop alerts in iPhone Settings.
Daily activity totals
The app sends a counter request for a first launch, app open or visit to an available Pro offer. The request contains only the event type, platform (iOS or Android) and test/customer classification. The server immediately adds one to a daily total using UK time. These counters do not store installation identifiers, purchase links, precise event timestamps or individual activity histories. Repeat visits count again.
A local yes/no flag avoids counting a first launch again on the same installation; it is not an identifier and is not sent to us. Counting is enabled initially and can be switched off in More without affecting tips, purchases or notifications. Already accumulated totals cannot be linked back to you or individually removed. Network infrastructure still receives IP addresses and request metadata as described above.
Subscription service records
Separately, to operate subscriptions and keep an accurate service record, we retain a keyed representation of the original subscription identifier, its Apple environment, original purchase date, latest verification time and verified access expiry. This lets us distinguish renewals and restores from new subscriptions. Apple server notifications may update these records when the app is closed. We do not store full signed receipts, names, card details or an Apple Account password in this record.
When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and any details or attachments you choose to include. Please do not send payment-card information, passwords or private bookmaker account information.
Apple’s reports
Apple may make subscription, sales and aggregated app-performance reports available to us. Some diagnostic and usage reporting depends on your Apple settings. This is separate from adding an analytics SDK to the app. See Apple’s App Store privacy information.
3. Why we use it
- Providing Pro: we use purchase and subscription information to fulfil our contract with you, including checking access and restoring purchases.
- Optional notifications: with your consent, we use the notification registration and preferences to deliver new-tip alerts, and check membership to restrict Pro alerts. You may withdraw consent without affecting access to tips or the lawfulness of earlier processing.
- Daily activity totals: we use aggregate counts to understand activity and improve our service, not to profile visitors or target advertising. Activity counting can be switched off in More.
- Subscription service records: we retain minimal verified subscription status for our legitimate interests in operating, reconciling and supporting subscriptions. This is separate from daily activity counting and is not used for advertising or a personal betting profile.
- Delivering and protecting the service: we use necessary network information, technical logs and abuse-prevention checks for our legitimate interests in delivering free content, keeping the service reliable, preventing misuse and protecting paid access.
- Answering requests: we use support correspondence to provide contractual support or for our legitimate interests in answering questions and resolving problems.
- Legal requirements: we may retain or disclose relevant information when necessary to meet an applicable legal obligation.
Network information is necessary to deliver online content. Purchase verification is necessary for Pro access; without it, the free service remains available. Contacting support is optional.
We do not profile your gambling behaviour or use your personal information to personalise betting recommendations. Subscription access checks are automated; contact us if you believe an access decision is wrong.
4. Who receives information?
- 123 Reg: our hosting provider processes server requests and hosted data to run the BetMethod API and website. Its data-processing terms describe its role and service providers.
- Apple: processes App Store purchases, provides subscription verification and delivers optional push notifications. Apple also processes information for its own services under its privacy policy.
- Email service providers: process correspondence when you contact us. Access within Emily’s Apps is limited to people who need it to handle your request or operate the service.
- Authorities or professional advisers: may receive relevant information where required by law or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
We do not sell your personal information or provide it to bookmakers for advertising.
International processing
Our providers may process information outside the UK, including through international support and service providers. We do not promise that all processing stays in the UK. Where UK transfer rules apply, the relevant arrangements must use an approved adequacy decision or appropriate contractual safeguards. 123 Reg’s published data-processing terms include UK international-transfer provisions. You can contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your data.
5. How long is it kept?
- Age confirmation: remains in the app’s local settings until those settings are removed. Deleting the app normally removes local data; a device backup may retain or restore it.
- Pro verification: full signed purchase information is processed during verification and is not stored in the subscription service record. That minimal record contains a keyed subscription identifier, environment, original purchase date, latest verification and access expiry. Records with both their last check and expiry more than two years old are removed during scheduled maintenance or an admin overview refresh. The app's access token lasts no longer than five minutes and is kept in memory. A separate subscription identifier is retained for opted-in Pro notifications as described below. Apple retains its own purchase records under its policies.
- Daily activity totals: aggregate daily counters are retained for up to 400 days. No individual event history is retained. The first-launch flag and counting preference stay locally until app settings are removed; device backups may preserve these settings.
- Notifications: turning alerts off in the app deletes the server registration, its subscription identifier and associated delivery records once the change reaches the server. If you turn alerts off in iPhone Settings, the app synchronises that change when next opened online. Unregistered tokens are removed when Apple reports them. The scheduled notification worker removes registrations not refreshed for 180 days and completed delivery records older than seven days. Hosting backups may persist under the hosting retention arrangements. A random registration credential is stored in this device’s Keychain; it contains no payment details and may survive app deletion.
- Abuse-prevention counters: our API derives a short, keyed value from an IP address to select a shared rate-limit counter. These counters contain a time window and count, not a raw IP address or purchase receipt. The counting window is one minute; a counter file can remain until it is overwritten.
- Hosting logs and backups: retention depends on the hosting service’s configured rotation and backup cycles, the time needed to identify or investigate technical and security problems, and any applicable legal requirement. These records are separate from the app’s short-lived access token. Contact us for the current retention details applicable to a request.
- Support correspondence: is kept for handling your request and any necessary follow-up, complaint or legal claim. Retention is assessed by whether the issue is resolved and whether a continuing legal or dispute-related need remains.
We do not need you to create an account just to make a privacy request. We may need limited information to locate a record or confirm that you are entitled to receive it.
6. Security, cookies and tracking
App-to-server requests use HTTPS. Pro content requires server-verified access, and private screenshots use expiring links. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
The BetMethod app contains no advertising or third-party analytics SDKs. This privacy page does not set cookies or load analytics scripts, third-party fonts or embedded third-party content. Other pages on Emily’s Apps’ website and external services may have different cookie practices.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on the information and the legal basis used, you may have rights to access your personal information, correct it, request deletion, restrict its use, receive a portable copy, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. These rights have legal limits; for example, some records may need to be retained to meet a legal obligation.
To make a request or raise a privacy concern, email hello@emilysapps.ltd and mention BetMethod. We will respond within the applicable legal time limit, normally one month. We may ask for proportionate verification where needed.
You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) or an applicable local data-protection authority.
Deleting the app or requesting deletion of information does not cancel an Apple subscription. Manage or cancel it through Apple’s subscription settings. Requests concerning Apple’s own account or payment records should be directed to Apple.
8. Adults only
BetMethod is intended for people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly invite children to use it. If you believe a child has supplied personal information to us, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this page as the service or our practices change. The date above shows the latest revision. Where required, we will bring material changes to your attention through an appropriate notice before new processing begins.
